Deep Sea Creatures Filmed at Volcanic Vent with Robotic Camera
Researchers from University of Southampton used a robotic camera to explore underwater volcanic vents in the South West Indian Ridge in the Indian Ocean. The volcanic vent the robotic camera explored is known as the "Dragon Vent." Some of the creatures seen in the recorded video included yeti crabs, scaly-foot snails and sea cucumbers. The Guardianreports that this was the first time a Yeti crab was spotted in the Indian Ocean. The recorded video shows the volcanic vent is teeming with life. Take a look:
