Kibo Robot to Join Crew Aboard International Space Station This Summer

Gizmag reports that Kibo, a Japanese communication robot, will be joining the crew aboard the International Space Station (ISS) this summer. Kibo means "hope" in Japanese. The robot recently underwent zero gravity tests. The robot that will be on the ISS has been named Kirobo and his backup has been named Mirata. The robots were designed by Tomotaka Takahashi.
The Huffington Post writes that Kirobo will work with Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata and live in the space station's Kibo module.
