DARPA's Dexterous New ARM-H Robotic Hand

DARPA released this new video of its new dexterous robotic hand. The ARM-H robotic hand was developed for DARPA's Autonomous Robotic Manipulation (ARM) by iRobot, with support from Harvard University and Yale University. DARPA says the hands could be manufactured for as little as $3,000 per unit (in batches of 1,000 or more). This is down from the $50,000 cost of current technology.
DARPA believes the new hand technology will pave the way for low-cost robots. The three-fingered hand picks up a number of objects, such as basketballs, tweezers and keys. It also lifts a 50lb weight. At the 1:50 mark the video shows the robotic hand using a key to open a door. At 2:18 the robotic hand operates a drill. Take a look:
