Image of Saturn Moons Mimas and Pandora Taken by NASA's Cassini Spacecraft

Posted on July 31, 2013

This image of Saturn moons Mimas and Pandora was taken by NASA's Cassini spacecraft. These are two of Saturn's 53 moons. The image was taken in blue light with Cassini's narrow-angle camera on May 14, 2013. The smaller moon Pandora has an elongated shape.

NASA scientists say this is because it lacks sufficient gravity to pull itself into a round shape like its larger sibling, Mimas. Pandora is 50 miles (81 kilometers) across and Mimas is 246 miles (396 kilometers) across.
