NHC Director Rick Knabb Says Sandy Will be Long Duration Event

National Hurricane Center director Rick Knabb says Hurricane Sandy will be a long duration event. He says the surge cycles could "ebb and flow a little bit over multiple tidal cycles."

He also explains that the area north of North Carolina is not being handled by warnings from NHC due to the transition from tropical to post-tropical. States north of North Carolina will still get strong winds of tropical strength or hurricane strength and people should check their local forecasts for details.
