Well Preserved Baby Woolly Mammoth Goes on Display in Tokyo

The Huffington Post reports that this well preserved 39,000 year old baby woolly mammoth is going on display in Tokyo this month. The female baby mammoth, named Yuka, was found in an ice tomb off the northern coast of Siberia. The mammoth's reddish fur is still visible. The frozen carcass shows signs that the mammoth was attacked by lions and then partially butchered by humans. Humans may have then reburied the carcass for later use, but never returned to claim it.
