Wrinkled Fingers Help You Better Grip Wet Objects Say Scientists

The wrinkling in the skin on your fingers is controlled by your nervous system. If the nerves to your fingers are severed, then your fingers won't wrinkle properly. Tom Smulders and Kyriacos Kareklas from Newcastle University in England ran tests on people handling wet and dry marbles and found that people can move wet marbles faster when their fingers are wrinkled. Their research was published here in the journal Biology Letters. Kareklas shows how the experiment worked at the 3:10 mark. Take a look:
