18-Foot-Long Oarfish Found Off Coast of Southern California

CBS News reports that a marine science instructor found the body of an 18-foot-long oarfish off the Southern California coast. The exact location of the find was the waters of Toyon Bay on Santa Catalina Island.

A photo released by Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) shows over 15 people holding the body of the long fish. CIMI says the oarfish is the longest bony fish species on Earth. It can reach lengths of over 50 feet long. Take a look:
