6,600 Ton Building in Switzerland Being Moved 60 Meters to Avoid Demolition

A 6,600 ton building in Zurich, Switzerland is being moved 60 meters to avoid demolition. The public stepped in with a petition to save the building after learning the brick building, built in 1876, was scheduled to be torn down. Engineers constructed a concrete plate with tracks on top underneath the building. They also replaced the building's basement walls with steel pillars and placed the building on specially made carriages. The building will take over 24 hours to move. Take a look:
