Aluminalis is a 16-Legged Robot

Beatty Robotics in Asheville, NC created this intricate looking 16-legged robot. The robot, named Animaris Aluminalis, was inspired by Theo Jansen's mesmerizing Strandbeest sculptures. Aluminalis was built using 846 individual components.

The main microcontroller is an Arduino Nano. The robot is 6-inches tall and 22-inches wide. It can operate on its own or be controlled using a Xbee radio. Aluminalis appears to move fairly quickly on her many legs. Take a look:
