Posted on April 25, 2011

The Adler Planetarium in Chicago will reveal a new, immersive space experience on July, 8. The Deep Space Adventure takes passengers aboard the observation deck of a futuristic starship.

The centerpiece of Deep Space Adventure is the Grainger Sky Theater, which will project the largest single seamless digital image in the world. The theater has an ultra high definition screen resolution of more than 8k x 8k pixels, which surpasses the cinematic standard of 2k x 4k pixels. Vivid images of planets, stars, galaxies and other celestial objects are shown in the theater and special lighting effects help make it a 360-degree experience.
