CIROS Robot Slices Cucumber to Make a Salad

Posted on November 2, 2012

CIROS is a 5-foot-tall robot with a wheeled base created by researchers at the Korean Institute of Science and Technology. CIROS shows off his knife skills on a cucumber in this demonstration from Robot World 2012 as it puts together a salad. After slicing the cucumber, CIROS puts the knife away. The salad making robot then adds lettuce and tomatoes and then pours on some dressing to finish the salad. Take a look:

CIROS is not the first cucumber chopping robot. Cornell's PR2 robot can also slice cucumbers although it is not as skilled as CIROS.
