Corning Announces Launch of Willow Glass, an Ultra-Slim Flexible Glass

Posted on June 6, 2012

Corning has announced the launch of Willow Glass, a an ultra-slim flexible glass it says could revolution consumer electronics. The glass has the thickness of a sheet of copy paper. The thinness, strength, and flexibility of the glass could lead to curved displays that can be wrapped around a device or structure. The glass also provides thinner backplanes and color filters for both organic light emitting diodes (OLED) and liquid crystal displays (LCD). A fact sheet on Corning Willow Glass can be found here.

Corning says it is currently shipping samples of its Willow Glass to customers developing new display and touch applications. Previously, Corning released this video that shows how Willow glass can be used in roll-to-roll processing, which would enable devices made with Willow Glass to be manufactured faster and cheaper.
