Festo's SmartBird Robot Resembles a Real Bird From a Distance

Posted on March 28, 2011

A company named Festo has built an impressive looking robot bird. The design was inspired by a herring gull. From a distance the bird resembles a real bird. Festo says its robot bird, called SmartBird, can start, fly and land autonomously -- with no additional drive mechanism. The wings of SmartBird beat up and down and also twist at specific angles.
