Mask-bot is a Talking Head Robotic System

Researchers at the The Institute for Cognitive System at TU Munchen in Munich, Germany have partnered with Japanese scientists to create Mask-bot. A projector transmits the image of a human face onto a semi-transparent plastic mask. Mask-bots' voice and facial expressions are controlled by a computer. Prof. Gordon Cheng, head of the ICS team, says, "Mask-bot will influence the way in which we humans communicate with robots in the future." Take a look:
