New Facial Recognition Software Searches Through 36 Million Faces Per Second

The advanced technology used in upcoming surveillance systems will make it increasingly difficult for humans to stay hidden if they go anywhere in public. Hitachi Kokusai Electric has created a powerful new surveillance camera system capable of searching through 36 million faces per second. Thumbnails of a potential candidate are shown when the system is given a photograph of a face to find. The corresponding video footage associated with the face can then be viewed and examined.
