New Study Finds Women Score Higher on IQ Tests Than Men

Posted on July 16, 2012

A new study has found that women score higher on IQ tests than men. The study found women score about five points higher on average than men do on IQ tests. Past studies have always found men score slightly higher on the IQ tests.

ABC News reports that the study was conducted by James Flynn, an IQ testing expert. Flynn used a standard IQ test, called the Raven's Progressive Matrices IQ test (or Raven's test), and tested it on 500 men and 500 women in several different countries: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Estonia and Argentina. Flynn found that women bested men on the tests in each country. The Telegraph reports that Flynn plans to publish a book about the results of the study and his theories about intelligence.
