Robotic Arm Weaves Web at MIT Media Lab

A robot is weaving a cocoon-like structure at the MIT Media Lab. The robot arm is building a pre-programmed design by weaving a thick thread onto hooks and pegs built into a cage around the robot.

The robot currently requires programming input from humans, but the MIT developers plan for it to eventually be 100% autonomous and be able to weave custom designs. Take a look:
