Sea Otter Plays Basketball to Help With His Arthritis

Eddie the sea otter plays basketball at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. Time reports that when the zoo veterinarians discovered Eddie, age 16, had arthritic elbows they were determined to find a way to help him.

In addition to daily vitamins and anti-inflammatory medication, the zoo also had a basketball hoop built just for Eddie. The vets say by keeping the joints moving it eases the arthritis. Eddie is very good at basketball. We love it when he goes up for a big slam dunk. He is the Michael Jordan of otters. Take a look:
