TheCorpora Robotic Company Begins Pre-orders for its Qbo Robots

Posted on April 27, 2012

Automaton reports that Thecorpora has started taking for its autonomous Q.bo robot. Q.bo is available as a Q.bo basic kit (499 Euros, about $650), which requires assembly or as Q.bo complete - a fully assembled Q.bo (2,299 Euros, about $3,000). The first Basic units will be shipped starting in the 3rd quarter of 2012 and the Q.bo complete will be shipped in the 4th quarter.

TheCorpora has also set up an open source software community for Q.bo. The robot runs on Open Q.bo, a linux distribution based on ubuntu, which includes the ROS robotic software platform, speech recognition software, a text-to-speech system, and other features. A number of apps have already been created for Qbo, which enable Q.bo to learn objects, recognize faces and recognize speech.

Here is a video of a Q.bo recognizing another Q.bo.
