University of Bonn Sells Open-Source Humanoid Soccer Playing Robot

The University of Bonn is selling its open-source humanoid soccer robot for research. The size of the robot, named NimbRo-OP, is compatible with the RoboCup Humanoid League TeenSize class. The robot, which has a toy-like head, is 95 centimeters tall (3.1 feet) and weighs 6.6 kilograms (14.5 pounds).

Features include 20 networked actuators, AMD E-450 processor, 2GB RAM, WiFi, Wide-angle camera, inertial sensors and a Lithium polymer 14.8V battery. The robot can run Linux or Windows software and includes Linux-based software that supports ball perception, walking, kicking, and getting-up motions. The robot costs 20,000 Euros, about $25,600 U.S. Take a look:
