When Titanboa Met Mondo Spider

No, it's not the name of a new Syfy original movie -- although it does sound like one. Two very interesting mechanical creations met in a lab. Titanoboa is a 35 foot mechanical recreation of a 60 million year old 50 foot long serpent made extinct by climate change. He is one of many eatART projects in East Vancouver, BC, Canada, and was created to explore forms of propulsion. Titanboa is not finished yet. When he is finished, he will be 50 feet long and covered in recycled high-density polyethylene made to look like synthetic scales.

Mondo Spider is a 1,700-pound mechanical arachnid that serves as an emissions-free people mover. It's been seen at Burning Man (no doubt some that saw it assumed it was a side effect of recreational pharmaceuticals). Take a look:
