Hawaii Expected to Get Hit By More Hurricanes by 2075

Hawaii has been fairly hurricane free over the past thirty years. The last destructive hurricane was Hurricane Iniki which hit in 1992. It caused $1.8 billion in damage. Climate change is expected to cause the number of hurricanes hitting Hawaii to rise. A new study from the International Pacific Research Center at the University of Hawaii, Manoa predicts Hawaii will be hit by twice as many hurricanes in 2075 to 2099 than it gets now. The warming ocean is one of the main factors in the expected increase in hurricanes. Accuweather's Valerie Smock explains:
