MIT AgeLab Creates Suits That Simulate Old Age

MIT's Agelab created suits, called Age Gain Now Empathy System (AGNES), that simulate the effects of old age. The suits were designed to provide insight into the physical effects of aging. The L.A. Times reports that the suits emulate what it feels to be about 75 years old with arthritis and diabetes.

When you put on the suit you feel increased fatigue, reduced flexibility in joints and muscles, spinal compression, and difficulty with vision and balance. The idea behind the suit is that it will help young people better understand the needs of an aging population. The young people will also be able to put this knowledge and understanding to use when they are designing new products and services. Take a look:
