OraQuick Home HIV Test Closer to FDA Approval

OraSure's Home HIV test, called OraQuick, received a positive recommendation from the FDA's Blood Products Advisory Committee (BPAC). The committee voted 17-0 that the benefits of the test outweight the risks of false positive and false negative test results. The committee also voted 17-0 that the test is safe and effective for its intended use.

CNN's Elizabeth Cohen says OraQuick is similar to a home pregnancy test and will be available in stores in a few months. The HIV test provides results in 20 minutes. Take a look:
