Scientists Grow Lung Tissue From Stem Cells

Researchers from Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) grew functional lung cells in the lab from stem cells. This is the first time scientists have grown functional lung cells in the lab. Reuters reports that the scientists believe this could lead to lab-grown lungs. People could grow new lungs or lung tissue from their own stem cells. In a release the scientists say they hope to make an autologous lung graft using the new technology. Take a look:
