Video: Zonkey Born at Reynosa Zoo in Northern Mexico

Posted on April 25, 2014

A zonkey, a cross between a zebra and a donkey, was born at the Reynosa Zoo in Mexico on April 21. The little zonkey, named Khumba, has striped legs like a zebra, but has only a few stripes on the rest of her body. The Telegraph reports that the Rayas, Khumba's zebra mother, frequently visited a farm that is home to a "dwarf, blue-eyed albino donkey named Ignacio." A photograph of Khumba's father can be found here.

Another zonkey, named Ippo, was born at an animal reserve in Florence, Italy last summer. An article about some famous zebroids and zebrasses can be found here.
