Bee Swarm Attacks Couple, Horses and Hens in Pantego, Texas

The Star-Telegram reports that a couple in Pantego, Texas was attacked by a swarm of 30,000 bees. Pantego is located in North Texas between Dallas and Fort Worth. The bees attacked Kristen Beauregard, her boyfriend, her two horses and her chickens. Kristen dove into her swimming pool for safety and Trump, her Shetland pony, followed her. Kristen's pony and her other horse, a show horse, did not survive despite the best efforts of emergency workers. The bees also reportedly killed five of her chickens. Beauregard has at least 200 bee stings everywhere except on her feet. Her boyfriend was stung fifty times.

It turns out there was a very large beehive in a nearby shed. It is not clear why the bees all suddenly left the hive. A beekeeper has since removed the hive and sent samples to experts to see if they are Africanized honey bees. The Star-Telegram says the beekeeper believes the aggressive bees were a "hybrid honey bee." Take a look:
