DARPA's Robotic Pack Mules Traverse Rugged Terrain

DARPA has demonstrated improvements to its robotic pack mules developed by Boston Dynamics. The goal of DARPA's Legged Squad Support System (LS3) is to demonstrate that these robots can help soldiers by carrying their gear and following them through rugged terrain.

The robots can reach speeds of 5 mph over rough terrain. DARPA says the robots can right themselves if they tip over. They can also follow soldiers and track squad members even in a forested terrain or high brush. Take a look:
