Entomologist Endures Over 15,000 Mosquito Bites a Year to Sustain Colony for Science

Dr. Steve Schutz, the lead entomologist with the Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District, endures over 15,000 mosquito bites annually to sustain a colony for science. The Contra Cost Times reports that Schutz has been bitten 150,000 times in the past 12 years.

The researchers say that because the mosquitoes are raised in captivity, they do not carry any diseases. Schutz has developed a tolerance for mosquito bites and has a smaller reaction to mosquito bites than less frequently bitten people. Take a look:
