T-Resilience Algorithm Enables Hexapod Robot to Make Adjustments if its Leg is Chopped in Half

This hexapod robot is using what is called the T-Resilience algorithm developed by researchers from the ISIR, Universite Pierre et Marie Curie-Paris. The algorithm enables a robot to make adjustments if it sustains damage, such as one of its legs gets chopped in half. After the robot loses half a leg its gait immediately slows to 8 cm/s. Thanks to the algorithm its speed increases to 18 cm/s after just 20 minutes. This is near its original undamaged gait of 26 cm/s.
