Video: Moving Magnetic Sculptures Made With Ferrofluid

This interesting video from New Scientist shows moving sculptures made with magnetic ferrofluid. Ferrofluid is fluid that has been infused with magnetic particles. Each particle in the ferrofluid is coated with a surfactant to prevent the magnetic particles from clumping together. Gary Lee Johns, a physics PhD student at Johns Hopkins University, combined the ferrofluid with a variety of metal shapes to make the fluid sculptures in the video below.
