36 Dead in Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo
Posted on October 2, 2012
There is a new update on the ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. 36 people have now died during the outbreak. The World Health Organization said last month that the outbreak was not under control and could spread to major towns.
Here are the latest numbers:
- Suspected Cases: 81
- Deaths: 36
- People Under Observation: 216
The CDC has a list of ebola outbreaks that does not include the current outbreak. 81 suspected cases has this outbreak headed toward being one of the larger ebola outbreaks if it is not contained in the very near future. There have only been 7 outbreaks with over 100 cases. The largest outbreak was 425 cases in Uganda with 224 deaths.
