Website Assigns Walk Scores to Neighborhoods

Posted on August 8, 2008

A new website called WalkScore.com recently ranked the most walkable cities. San Francisco was ranked number one. The WalkScore.com website also provides walk scores for over 2,500 neighborhoods. The site measures the walkability of addresses and also analyzes routes to nearby amenities.

A page on the WalkScore.com website explains what the rankings mean. WalkScore notes that weather is not factored into their algorithm. They may want to include that in the future because some places are just too hot or cold to walk in - at least during parts of the year. Constant rainy weather may also not be suitable for walkers.

The site also provides a bike score for bikers.
