Four Hundred Thousand Wheels of Aging Parmesan Cheese Damaged in Italy Earthquake

The deadly earthquake in Northern Italy also caused major damage to the region's cheese industry. The AP reports that one producer had 400,000 wheels of aging Parmesan cheese damaged in the earthquake.

The shelves the wheels of cheese are stored on toppled over during the earthquake. We cannot believe the devastation: it's really shocking. This is bound to make cheese prices go up. We do hope the producers were insured. They are going to need more earthquake proof cheese storage in the future. Take a look:
