German Researchers Build Robotic Apes to Explore the Moon

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the University of Bremen have developed ape-like robots designed for future lunar missions. The robots can walk and climb like apes. The Daily Mail reports that the researchers plan to send the robotic apes to the moon to explore its surface.
The robotic apes were built using 43 individual force-sensing resistor, a 6-axis Fore/Torque sensor, distance sensor, digital 3-axis accelerometer, two temperature sensors and digital magnetic angular encoders. These videos show the cool looking iStruct robo-apes balancing and walking. Take a look:
