Thousands of Humboldt Squid Carcasses Litter Beaches of Santa Cruz County

The carcasses of thousands of humboldt squid have littered the beaches in Santa Cruz County in California. The beached squid can be found over a stretch of twelve miles. These squids are juveniles and weigh about 3 pounds each.
One theory is that the squid ate toxic algae. Other theories include pollution or an unusually strong current.
