Video: Octavia, the Navy's Firefighting Robot, Puts Out a Fire
Posted on April 3, 2012
The Naval Research Lab (NRL) and Office of Naval Research (ONR) have built a firefighting robot named Octavia to help them put out fires, which are one of the greatest risks to the U.S. Naval Fleet.
In this video, Octavia gets information about the location of a fire. Octavia then enters the room containing the fire and puts it out using her compressed air/water water backpack. Octavia says, "Fire found. Moving to extinguish."
